The 10 things you should do to be an outstanding Instructor

  1. Be prompt. Don’t penalize those who arrive on time by waiting for others. Arrive early, start on time. Always.
  2. Practice the words (The RIGHT words)
  3. Practice demonstrations (maintain muzzle discipline, don’t be fumbling)
  4. Dress for the occasion. You are an ambassador.
  5. Stand up during your class. Walk the room. Throw the podium away.
  6. Involve your student in their education. Don’t give them the answers, give them the questions and make them think. (TPI)
  7. Don’t blow smoke. If you don’t have an answer, say so.
  8. Know the test. Know the answers, and where to find them.
  9. Have fun. Make sure your students are having fun. If you and your students are not having fun, something is wrong.
  10. Show that you care. Check your ego at the door, it is ALL about your student.
